The online casino game Blackjack is one of the oldest card games and a trendy one that has a lot to offer when it comes to strategies how to beat the casino and house-edge. The rules of blackjack are simple. Let´s have a look at this fantastic game and how to play it.
Learn how to play blackjack
When you play blackjack online the goal is to get the better hand than the computer/dealer. It is not only about to to land on 21, but also to beat the dealer. The smartest way to win in style is to get 21 points on the first two BJ cards. That is the classic „Blackjack“. With these cards a player will win in 99,999%. The only way NOT to win is the case that the dealer also holds a Blackjack. But the player has still not lost in this draw because it results cashback.
The second way to win is to get 21 points or to get a better hand without exceeding the final 21. The third way to win is to let the dealer exceed the 21. If the cards show 21+ points, this hand is called a ”bust” and the player or dealer has lost immediately.
The Blackjack players gets the first cards and sums their value. Face cards like Jack, Queen and King count as ten points. As can be counted as 11 or 1. All the other cards in the game are counted their card value. For example the 4 counts 4, the 8 counts 8 and so on.
When both parties have their first two cards, the play is allowed to chose if he needs a further card or if he stops to pick more cards. If he ends to pick more cards, he stands and ends his round. Now it´s the dealers turn and he does it in the same way like the player did.
Thankfully, the dealer has some additional rules to follow. One of them is that the dealer/computer has to pick cards as long as his cards show a minimum of 17 points. The other additional rule is, that he must finish his round immediately after he exceeded 17 points. After that the hands of the player and the dealer´s hand will be compared and the party with the best hand wins. Yes, it is that easy.
When To Stand?
This is one of the most asked questions. But to determine when to stand is not as hard as it looks on the first view. Follow the rules, depending to the player´s hand and the dealer's first card.
- If the hand shows 17 or more, stand in every case. (Although some „paid systems“ tell you to quit if the dealer shows an ace.)
- If the dealer's first card is six or lower and your own cards show 13 or more points in sum, then also Stand.
- When you have a pair of tens or first cards which could be splitted, don´t split them, still Stand.
When To Double
To double the bet is an often used strategy if the player's hand exactly shows nine, ten or eleven points. This gives the player a good chance to get 19 or 20 with a 10 or Face card. With the help of the below mentioned rules it is easy to determine if it is worth to Double the hand. Like the „When to stand“ strategy, these steps are also depending on the total of player´s and the dealer's face up cards.
- Always double a total of 10 unless the dealer has 10 or Ace.
- Always double an 11 unless the dealer has an Ace.
- 9 should only be doubled when the dealer has 3, 4, 5 or 6 showing.
